The two-member bench, consisting of Chief Justice Aamir Farooq and Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb, presided over the hearing and reserved their decision.

Subsequently, the Islamabad High Court issued a concise verdict, accepting Nawaz Sharif’s appeal against the sentence in the Al-Azizia case, leading to his acquittal.

It’s noteworthy that on July 6, 2018, the Islamabad accountability court sentenced Nawaz Sharif to an 11-year prison term in the Avenfield reference. Additionally, on December 24, 2018, the Accountability Court of Islamabad imposed a 7-year prison sentence and a fine on former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills case.

On October 26 of this year, upon the request of (N) League leader Nawaz Sharif, the Islamabad High Court reinstated the appeals against the sentences in both the Avenfield and Al-Azizia references.

Recently, the Islamabad High Court acquitted former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the Avenfield reference, nullifying his prior 11-year prison sentence.

The Chief Justice requested the documents used by Wajid Zia to draw his conclusions.

Furthermore, the Islamabad High Court dismissed the plea to remand the Al-Azizia reference back to the accountability court.
