LAHORE: The Punjab government has introduced an online learner’s driving license application, facilitating citizens of Lahore in obtaining their driving licenses without leaving their homes. Launched under the Driving License Management Systems, this initiative aims to provide significant relief to the public.

Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi inaugurated the application and highlighted its benefits, emphasizing that individuals can now acquire their learning driving licenses from the comfort of their homes.

This move by the Punjab government is aimed at streamlining the licensing process, ensuring convenience for citizens who no longer need to venture outside or endure prolonged waits for their licenses.

The inauguration ceremony at the CM house saw the presence of Provincial Information Minister Aamir Mir, Inspector General of Police Dr. Usman Anwar, Chairman of Punjab Information Technology Board Faisal Yousaf, and other relevant officials.

Recently, during the 33rd provincial cabinet meeting chaired by CM Naqvi, the caretaker government approved a substantial increase in the fee for the learner driving license. Effective from January 1, 2024, the fee has surged from Rs60 to Rs1000.

However, as outlined in the provincial cabinet’s communication, citizens of the United States and Pakistani expatriates residing in the US, Canada, and other countries can obtain a driving license online by paying $100.
