KARACHI: At least five people, including four laborers and a passerby vendor, were killed, and four others were injured when an under-construction building collapsed in Karachi’s Shah Faisal Colony No.5 on Wednesday.
Police said that the laborers were laying a reinforced cement concrete roof when it collapsed. The building was in bad shape and the old roof could not withstand the weight of two more roofs, causing it to fall down.
Rescue workers used machinery to remove the debris and recover the bodies. A criminal case will be registered against the owner of the building on charges of causing loss of human life and injuries.
