ISLAMABAD: A Metrobus traveling from Rawalpindi to Islamabad experienced an abrupt engine fire near Rahmanabad station, leading passengers to shatter windows and exit the bus hastily, resulting in injuries to two individuals, including a woman.

Media sources report that the bus suddenly filled with smoke, prompting passengers to evacuate upon detecting the fire. This caused a chaotic situation as people jumped off the moving bus.

Rescue 1122’s spokesperson confirmed that rescue teams swiftly responded to the incident and transported the injured individuals, including the woman, to Benazir Bhutto Hospital.

Due to the bus fire, the metro bus service was temporarily halted for an hour, inconveniencing commuters.

In contrast, Metro Bus authorities clarified that the stampede occurred due to smoke inside the bus, stemming from an engine malfunction, which distressed the passengers. They clarified that no passengers were harmed by the fire; instead, the injuries sustained by the two individuals resulted from the stampede.

It’s important to note that in 2017, a tragic accident involving a metro bus occurred at Rahmanabad station, leading to the untimely demise of a 19-year-old female student.
