ISLAMABAD: In a significant development, a special committee has been established to oversee the approval process of maps for housing schemes, apartments, commercial projects, petrol pumps, CNG stations, and individual residential and commercial buildings within the areas where the revenue limits of Rawalpindi and Islamabad converge.

The move comes as disputes surrounding the construction of houses, commercial properties, and buildings on vacant plots have emerged in these areas, with several cases pending before the courts.

The revenue boundary of Rawalpindi encompasses the division of various administrative bodies, including the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), Rawalpindi Cantonment Board, Chaklala Cantonment Board, and the municipal division. To address the escalating disputes, the CDA Board, led by Member Planning and Design, Mr. Wasim Hayat Bajoh, has taken decisive action to resolve the matter.

The committee, approved by the CDA Board, comprises seven members, each bringing valuable expertise and perspective to the table. Alongside Mr. Wasim Hayat Bajoh, the committee consists of the Director General of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (DGRDA), the Chief Officer of the Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board, the Chief Executive Officer of the Chaklala Cantonment Board, the Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue of Islamabad, and the Director of the Master Plan at the Capital Development Authority (CDA).

This move is expected to streamline the approval process for various projects in the region and bring about a resolution to the pending legal cases. With the diverse expertise and representation within the committee, stakeholders are optimistic about finding mutually agreeable solutions to the construction-related disputes in the Rawalpindi-Islamabad revenue limit area.
