First Ramadan in Pakistan expected on March 2, 2025

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted that the Ramadan moon is likely to be sighted on March 1, 2025, the first fast (Roza) is expected on March 2.

As per the department’s announcement, the moon will be born on February 28 at 5:45 PM, signaling the start of the Islamic month of Ramadan.

Report say If the moon is sighted on March 1, the holy month will officially begin in Pakistan.

International media has reported that countries like the UAE and other Gulf nations may see the moon on February 28, with Ramadan starting on March 1 there.

In Pakistan, the moon sighting will determine the final date, but March 2 is the likely start for fasting. The announcement has sparked preparations among millions of Muslims across the country.

Weather Update for Ramadan;

PMD Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz said Karachi may face rising temperatures during the last 10 days of Ramadan, starting around March 20.

However, the weather is expected to remain pleasant during the early days. “Days will be slightly hot, but nights will be comfortable due to sea breezes,” he said.

Current Weather Conditions;

The PMD forecast a slight increase in the cold wave over the next two days. Temperatures may drop to 10-12°C on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

On Monday, the temperature was 13.5°C, with winds blowing at 7 km/h from the north and humidity at 32%.

The Met office expects cold and dry weather across most parts of the country over the next 24 hours.

Rain, along with wind and thunderstorms, may occur in isolated areas of Kashmir, northeast Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Light snowfall is expected in higher mountain areas.

Morning fog is likely in parts of northeast Punjab. The PMD said continental air is currently prevailing across much of the country, with a westerly wave expected to reach western and upper regions later tonight.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the Ramadan moon is likely to be sighted on March 1, 2025, and the first fast Roza is expected in the country on March 2.

It should be noted that the final decision on the sighting of the moon will be issued by the committee.
