Sindh govt to set up new police stations to tackle profiteers

KARACHI: The Sindh government has decided to establish new police stations across the province to target profiteers.

According to media reports, an important meeting on regulating the prices of essential goods was held under the chairmanship of Sindh Chief Minister’s Special Assistant, Waqar Mehmood. During the meeting, it was decided to set up separate police stations to take strict action against profiteers.

These new police stations will cover the entire Sindh province and will be authorized to take action against profiteers. The stations will include staff from the Bureau of Supply and the police department.

Waqar Mehmood stated that cold storage facilities in vegetable markets across Sindh will be registered and monitored to prevent the sale of goods at higher prices. The goal of this decision is to stabilize the prices of essential goods and curb hoarding and profiteering.

He also mentioned that all warehouses will be registered before Ramadan, and special stalls for essential goods and fruits will be set up in savings markets to ensure they are sold at fixed prices.

The meeting also decided to set up spice stalls at lower rates in savings markets in Karachi. Special duties will be assigned to monitor markets across Sindh. Additionally, the Special Assistant instructed that the official price list be displayed in all shops and stalls.

Crackdown on Crime in Karachi;

Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has ordered a crackdown by the police and Rangers on theft incidents in Karachi.

The Chief Minister took notice of the thefts in the Korangi industrial area and asked for a report from the Additional IG. He also directed SSPs of all districts to ensure law and order in their areas.

The Chief Minister further instructed Karachi Police and Rangers to carry out a crackdown on lawbreakers and criminals.
