KARAK: A high-speed 22-wheeler trailer ran over several vehicles at Ambiri Kallah Chowk in Karak, killing twelve people and injuring 25 others. An emergency has been declared in hospitals.
A rescue spokesperson said that the container on the trailer fell on a passenger coach, hitting several vehicles. Following this, an emergency was declared in hospitals across the district.
The Deputy Commissioner of Karak said the crash happened late in the afternoon, causing multiple deaths. An oil tanker trailer, unable to stop because of brake failure, overturned onto a passenger coach, crushing it. The collision caused a chain reaction, affecting other vehicles on the highway.

“The trailer’s failure to stop led to a series of events. The coach was crushed under the trailer, resulting in many deaths,” said the DC. Local hospitals have been put on high alert to handle the increase in injured victims, some in critical condition.
Rescue teams have saved several survivors and taken the injured to the District Headquarters Hospital in Karak. Medical teams are on standby as the situation develops, said the DC.
Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, expressed grief over the accident in Karak, offered condolences to the families of the deceased passengers, and directed authorities to provide medical facilities to the injured.
Governor KP, Faisal Karim Kundi, also sought details of the traffic accident and instructed health department officials to provide all possible assistance to the injured.
Faisal Karim Kundi, while giving instructions to Red Crescent teams for relief activities, also directed PPP workers to participate in the relief efforts and donate blood.
