Karachi: The road leading to Aiwan-e-Sadr will remain closed today, Friday, 10th January 2025, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM due to security reasons.
According to a statement from the Traffic Police spokesperson, both sides of the road from Fawara Chowk to Khajoor Chowk will be temporarily closed. Alternate routes will be provided for traffic. Motorists coming from Shahrah-e-Faisal can use Deen Muhammad Wafaai Road from Fawara Chowk to reach I.I. Chundrigar Road, while passengers can also travel towards Shaheen Complex from MR Kayani Chowk. Traffic from I.I. Chundrigar Road towards Shahrah-e-Faisal and Saddar can use either Shaheen Chowk to MR Kayani Chowk or Fawara Chowk to reach Sarwar Shaheed Road. No traffic will be allowed on Aiwan-e-Sadr Road from MR Kayani Chowk.
Elsewhere in the city, two people riding a motorcycle were killed when a water tanker ran over them near Naval Colony on Baldia Hub River Road. The driver of the tanker fled the scene.
This comes amidst ongoing traffic woes in the city. A large number of people suffered through hours-long traffic jams on Mai Kolachi Road, which continued from late Tuesday night until Wednesday morning. DIG-Traffic Ahmed Nawaz Cheema attributed the Tuesday night congestion to the breakdown of three heavy vehicles at the Jinnah Bridge and ICI Bridge.

He claimed the situation was resolved within two hours and that traffic flow returned to normal around 10am on Wednesday.
However, citizens faced major traffic jams in other parts of the city throughout the day. Long queues of vehicles were observed on Jahangir Road, M.A. Jinnah Road, Soldier Bazaar, and other key links in District East during the evening peak hours.
Officials cited various factors contributing to the traffic mess, including road digging for construction and utility line installation, as well as “VVIP movement.”
