RAWALPINDI: A local holiday has been announced in Sheikhupura on Thursday, December 5, 2024, due to by-elections, a notification of which has also been issued.
As per official notification, a local holiday has been announced in Sheikhupura district on December 5 due to the by-elections.
Deputy Commissioner Sheikhupura Shahid Imran Marth has taken this decision at the request of the Election Commission of Pakistan.
All government schools, colleges, and offices in Sheikhupura district will remain closed on that day to facilitate the public in the polling process.
According to the details, this holiday has been granted on the occasion of the by-elections for PP-139 (Sheikhupura-IV). The Deputy Commissioner issued this notification under the guidelines issued by the Punjab Government, which aims to make the electoral process transparent and peaceful.
All necessary steps for the by-elections have been completed by the Election Commission of Pakistan. The number of polling stations in the PP-139 constituency has been increased so that the public does not face any problem in casting their votes.

Staff has been deployed at each polling station for the convenience of voters, while special arrangements have been made for the disabled.
The district police and law enforcement agencies have developed a comprehensive security plan, additional personnel will be deployed at sensitive polling stations, and reserve forces will also be present to deal with any untoward incidents.
Election Commission has appealed to voters to bring their national identity cards and reach the polling stations at the scheduled time to vote.
Polling will begin at 8 am and continue until 5 pm without any break. After the scheduled time, only those voters who are present inside the polling stations will be able to vote.
