KARACHI: A six-member committee has been formed under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary to monitor projects being implemented with foreign funds in the Sindh School Education Department.
According to the notification issued in this regard, the committee includes the Chairman of Planning and Development, the Secretary of School Education, the Chief Minister’s Inspection Committee, and the DC of the concerned district.
The notification states that this committee will review the projects being implemented with foreign aid.
According to the notification, the committee will instruct the steering committees to formulate a strategy for the completion of the projects. The committee will also review the reports of the project steering committees regarding the use of funds.

The notification states that the steering committees will ensure the implementation of the guidelines set by the funding agencies. Additionally, the steering committees will formulate a strategy to complete the projects within the prescribed timeframe.
According to the notification, the committee will also review the performance of the steering committees in relation to ongoing work on the projects.
It may be recalled that the Sindh High Court had ordered the removal of officers working on deputation for major projects. Following this decision, the officers removed included Ashiq Hussain Khoso, Rizwan Soomro, and Gulzar Abro.
The Sindh government has filed an appeal in the Supreme Court against the High Court’s decision. The court had also ordered the formation of a committee to monitor projects funded by foreign resources.
