ISLAMABAD: The 36th Senior Management Course (SMC) participants at the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA), Islamabad, held a tree plantation drive.

Notable figures, including Omer Jahangir, Lubna Said, Saba Asim, and Hammad Marri, also took part in the plantation drive. Trees were planted around the NIPA campus to raise awareness about environmental sustainability.
Director General Tariq Moj highlighted and stressed the need to increase green spaces. Chief Instructor Samreen Zahra highlighted how tree plantation can help fight climate change and create a healthier environment.
The event received positive feedback from participants, showing the importance of protecting nature for future generations.
Pakistan, particularly in Punjab, is facing severe smog issues. In November 2024, Lahore was ranked among the most polluted cities globally. The toxic air has caused the Punjab government to declare a health crisis, leading to school closures and outdoor activity bans.
The smog is caused by vehicle emissions, industrial pollution, and crop burning. This situation highlights the urgent need for actions like tree plantation to address Pakistan’s growing environmental problems.
