ISLAMABAD: The appointment of Roshan Khursheed Barucha, a female member nominated to the Judicial Commission, was made in light of the 26th Constitutional Amendment.
According to a spokesperson for the National Assembly Secretariat, Roshan Khursheed Barucha, a female member nominated to the Judicial Commission, is from Balochistan. Roshan Khursheed Barucha is a former senator.
The spokesperson further said that her nomination was made by the Speaker of the National Assembly under the authority granted in light of the 26th Constitutional Amendment. The Speaker can nominate a woman or a non-Muslim to the Judicial Commission. Four members of parliament and one woman have been nominated by the Speaker.
Roshan Khursheed Barucha was also elected as an entrepreneur in the Balochistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 2021-22.

It is worth noting that Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, sent the names of government and opposition members for the Judicial Commission to the Supreme Judicial Commission.
As per report, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq nominated parliamentary party members for the Judicial Commission and wrote a letter to the Supreme Judicial Commission in this regard.
Opposition PTI leader Omar Ayub and Muslim League (N) Member of the Assembly Sheikh Aftab have been nominated to the Judicial Commission, while the Speaker of the National Assembly has nominated Roshan Khursheed Barucha for the women’s seat.
In addition, Pakistan Peoples Party Senator Farooq Naik and PTI Senator and Opposition Leader Shibli Faraz have been nominated for the Judicial Commission from the Senate.
