ISLAMABAD: September 6 is celebrated as National Defence Day in Pakistan, there is a lot of talk on social media about whether it will be a public holiday this year or not.
It is traditionally a day to pay tribute to Pakistan’s military achievements, particularly country defence efforts during the 1965 war against India.
Currently, according to the notification issued by the Federal Cabinet Division regarding public holidays this year, September 6 will not be an official public holiday in Pakistan.
However, speculations are being made that since a holiday was given on May 28 on the occasion of Takbeer Day, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif may announce a public holiday on September 6 as well.
