KOHAT: After heavy rains in Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 11 people died due to floodwater entering the basement of the house.
According to the rescue, the tragic incident took place in Dara Adam Khel area of Kohat, the floodwaters entered the basement of the house where the residents were sleeping.
Rescue officials said that people were swept away when the flood rail entered the basement, and a rescue operation was started as soon as the information was received. The spokesperson said that the deceased persons belong to the same family.
“All the people were sleeping in the basement of the house when they got drowned in the floods.”
Flood situation in upper districts due to rains:
After heavy rain since late night, a flood situation has arisen in the upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to police and rescue officials, various areas have been flooded after rains in Dir, Chitral Upper and Lower, which have blocked the connecting roads.
Electricity transmission is also affected due to rains. Heavy rains have also affected power transmission in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to the spokesman of Pesco, 245 feeders of Pesco have been tripped due to rains across the province. 83 feeders have been tripped in Peshawar circle and 64 feeders in Khyber circle.
21 feeders have been tripped in Abbottabad, 21 in Mardan, and 29 in Swat circle, while 20 feeders have been affected in Swabi and 8 feeders in Mansehra. According to the spokesman, rehabilitation work is going on on the affected feeders.
