More rain expected in various parts of Pakistan: PMD

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts more rain and thunderstorms, with strong winds, in the next 24 hours for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, North-East/Central Punjab, Potohar region, Islamabad, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and North-East Balochistan.

As per report, Heavy rain might also happen in some areas of Kashmir, Northeast/Central Punjab, Potohar region, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Northeast Balochistan.

According to the synoptic situation, monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea are penetrating the upper/central parts of the country.

A trough of a westerly wave is affecting upper parts of the country. During the last 24 hours, rain-wind/thundershowers with isolated heavy falls occurred in Islamabad, Potohar region, Northeast/Central Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Northeast Balochistan.

The recorded rainfall was as follows:

Punjab: Lahore (City 119mm, Airport 86mm), Sargodha 58mm, Toba Tek Singh 46mm, Faisalabad 40mm, Bhakkar and Sheikhupura 38mm, Rawalpindi (Chaklala Airport 30mm, Kachahri 11mm, Shamsabad 09mm), Bahawalnagar 28mm, Sialkot (City 26mm, Airport 19mm), Gujranwala 26mm, Hafizabad 25mm, Jhelum and Kasur 21mm, Sahiwal 18mm, Islamabad (Saidpur 17mm, Golra 16mm, Bokra and Zero Point 08mm), Mandi Bahauddin 16mm, Narowal 13mm, Okara and Gujarat 11mm, Mangla 10mm, Joharabad 09mm, Jhang 05mm, Murree 02mm, Khanewal and Multan 01mm.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Dir (Lower 36mm, Upper 02mm), Dera Ismail Khan (City 21mm, Airport 14mm), Bannu, Malam Jabba 01mm, Balakot 01mm.

Balochistan: Barkhan 07mm.

The highest maximum temperatures recorded were: Dadu 46°C, Sibbi, Jacobabad, and Dalbandin 45°C.
