Islamabad School Timings Change Again Due to Increased Heat Intensity

ISLAMABAD: Due to the increase in heat intensity, the timings of schools in the federal capital, Islamabad, have been changed once again.

According to official sources, due to severe weather conditions, the working hours of the educational institutions managed by the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) have been changed again from Monday, May 27, 2024.

According to the statement of the Federal Directorate of Education, from Monday to Friday, the working hours of schools will be from 7:30am to 11:30a.m. Due to the reduction of the daily period of study, the daily assembly and sports period currently held in schools will not happen.

Earlier, school timings were changed in the federal capital, Islamabad, from May 20 due to heat.

The Secretary of Education had announced to fix the school hours in Islamabad from May 20, from 7:30 to 1:00.

It was earlier said that the new timings would remain in place until the start of the summer holidays. However, due to the increasing heatwave, the timings have been changed again after a week.

On the other hand,  Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, school timings have been changed in view of the increase in heat intensity.

According to the notification issued by the Education Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, schools will now open at 7 a.m. Primary schools will close at 11 a.m., while middle, high, and higher secondary schools will close at 12 noon.

According to the Director of Education Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, this decision has been taken due to the increase in heat intensity.
