Expected Eid ul Adha Holidays 2024: After enjoying long holidays for Eid ul Fitr, people in places like Pakistan and the UAE are now getting ready for another break.
This time, it’s for Eid ul Adha, which is expected to be a five-day weekend in June 2024. Astronomers have given an update about when this holiday will likely happen.
Eid ul Adha usually comes about two months after Eid ul Fitr, following the Islamic calendar, which is based on the Moon. The exact dates will be confirmed later.
The Islamic calendar’s months can be either 29 or 30 days long, depending on when the crescent Moon is seen. Arafah Day, which is part of Eid ul Adha, usually falls on Dhul Hijjah 9, followed by three days of celebrations.
Expected Eid ul Adha Dates 2024:
The Islamic calendar from the Dubai Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) says that the first day of Dhul Hijjah is likely to be Saturday, June 8. After that, Arafah Day is expected to be on Sunday, June 16, followed by Eid ul Adha on Monday, June 17.
The holiday is expected to last from Sunday, June 16, to Wednesday, June 19, including Saturday, June 15. But these dates might change based on when we see the Moon.
What is Eid-ul-Adha?
Eid ul Adha, also called Bakra Eid or Qurabani Eid, is an important festival in Islam. It remembers Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) obedience to Allah SWT.
This day reminds people of the values of faith, sacrifice, and compassion. It starts with special prayers at mosques, where people seek blessings and guidance.
Afterward, Muslims perform Qurbani, sacrificing animals like Prophet Ibrahim did. The meat is then shared with family, friends, and those in need.
