ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) has successfully retrieved Rs474.63 million from 28,866 customers during an ongoing initiative that commenced on September 1st.
As per an official statement, Iesco conducted comprehensive and extensive operations against individuals involved in electricity theft and defaulters across all regions, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi City, Rawalpindi Cantt, Attock, Chakwal, and Jhelum Region.
Dr. Mohammad Amjad Khan, the Chief Executive of Iesco, emphasized that the recovery of outstanding electricity dues from defaulters is being pursued rigorously in every instance, and no one is entitled to use electricity without settling their bills. These remarks were made during a review meeting on the ongoing campaign’s progress in terms of recovery and anti-power theft efforts.
He further noted that significant headway has been made in cleaning the Iesco region of the menace of electricity theft during the campaign.
According to available data, Iesco’s recovery teams have managed to collect Rs220.72 million from 20,167 active defaulters and an additional Rs253.91 million from 8,699 delinquent accounts. In total, the ongoing campaign has resulted in the recovery of Rs474.63 million from 28,866 customers.
On a different note, Iesco’s detection teams uncovered electricity theft amounting to Rs3.24 million units, leading to the imposition of fines totaling Rs150.27 million on 2,358 individuals engaged in electricity theft. Law enforcement authorities registered 453 First Information Reports (FIRs) and detained 366 individuals involved in these activities.
Dr. Khan urged consumers to contribute to the campaign’s success by reporting instances of power theft through the helpline at 118.
