PESHAWAR: 43 students in Peshawar have been accused of cheating in the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) by using Bluetooth devices.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against the students, including 20 female students. The FIR includes sections 419 and 420 of the law, which deal with impersonation and cheating.

The cases have been registered in Thana Sharqi, Faqirabad, and Paharipora, where the Bluetooth devices were discovered on the students inside the examination hall.

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) had made it clear that the MDCAT exam would be held across the country on September 10, and that there would be no other exam. Therefore, students who have registered for the exam should report to their respective examination centers.

More than 40,000 students from across Sindh, including Karachi, Hyderabad, and Larkana, are taking the exam for admission to medical colleges. More than 19,000 students have registered in Lahore, and more than 9,000 students in Balochistan.

Officials from the Ministry of Education say that very strict security arrangements have been made at the examination centers for the MDCAT entry test. Section 144 has also been imposed at some examination centers.
