KARACHI: The Ministry of Interior approved the Sindh Home Department’s request for deploying army and FC (Frontier Constabulary) personnel in Sindh during Muharram-ul-Haram.
As per report, The deployment of the Pakistan Army in Sindh is being conducted under Sections 4 and 5 of the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997, mirroring deployments elsewhere in the country.
The Ministry of Interior clarified that the army’s deployment will depend on the ground situation, with provinces retaining authority over deployment locations.
The federal Ministry of Interior has issued orders for army deployment, stating that the forces will be deployed to support the civil administration.
It is pertinent to mention here that Ashura will be observed in Pakistan on July 17 (Wednesday). The provincial government has imposed a ban on pillion riding in Sindh during the 10 days of Muharram.
