LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has allowed markets to remain open until 12 midnight during the month of Ramadan in 2024.
Justice Shahid Karim of the Lahore High Court presided over applications related to smog remediation.
The court granted permission for markets to operate from Monday to Friday until 12:00 midnight and until 1:00 am on Saturday and Sunday.
Furthermore, the Lahore High Court requested restaurants to provide a parking plan. The member of the judicial commission informed the court that restaurants have inadequate parking spaces despite having large dining halls.
The court also addressed the issue of a restaurant owner’s misconduct towards the staff of the judicial commission, directing immediate identification and notification of the owner in question.
Justice Shahid Karim remarked that such a mindset has become prevalent, emphasizing the need for cooperation in efforts towards improvement.
Additionally, the member of the judicial commission informed the court about the initiation of cleaning operations in Tolanton market. It was noted that trucks carrying dead chickens arrive in the morning at Tolanton market, with the meat from these chickens being used in shawarma.
