ISLAMABAD: The joint investigation team (JIT) is set to disclose the identities of individuals engaged in trolling judges, including Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, on social media, as reported by Private Media.
Sources reveal that the JIT, in a recent meeting at the Interior Ministry, discussed the day-to-day progress, performance, and operational methods employed in tracking down these activists.
Upon completion of the inquiry, an FIR against a minimum of five social media activists is expected to be filed in the upcoming week.
The trolling participants consist of professional bloggers, social media and political activists associated with a specific political party, businessmen, students, and journalists in print and electronic media, according to insider information.
Investigators working on the trolling case informed the correspondent that a list of approximately 800 individuals involved in the trolling activities has been forwarded to the National Database Registration Authority (Nadra) to gather data on the identified social media activists, along with their connections.
Sources disclosed that some individuals engaged in trolling judges of the apex court were traced internationally, categorizing these bloggers and social media activists as ‘identified.’
The number of individuals implicated in social media trolling is expected to increase significantly, moving from hundreds to potentially thousands. Initially, a list of 500 individuals involved in trolling was compiled, but this number expanded over time.
Those leading the investigation emphasized that the inquiry and investigation process will persist until every participant in trolling is identified. Legal action and arrests are anticipated to commence shortly after the completion of the inquiry or investigation.
