Jurisdictional Dispute Delays Robbery Case Registration in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: A jurisdictional dispute between two police stations has delayed the registration of a robbery case, leaving the victim, Muhammad Sarfaraz Khan, frustrated and seeking justice.

Khan, an employee of a federal educational institution, was robbed on the night of August 21-22 near GT Road No. 26. He had arrived in Islamabad from Lahore via Skyways Transport and was waiting for a taxi to his residence in G-11 when he was approached by three unidentified individuals riding a CD 70 motorcycle. The motorcycle lacked a visible number plate.

The individuals, armed with a pistol, demanded Khan’s belongings. Khan surrendered his OPPO A96 mobile phone, valued at 90,000 rupees, and a wallet containing his ID card, ATM cards from Allied Bank and Bank Al Falah, his driving license, vehicle registration card for a Honda City (with registration number AGT692), a service card, and 20,000 rupees in cash. Speaking in Pashto, the suspects appeared to be aged between 18 and 20 and were dressed in traditional shalwar kameez.

Khan reported the robbery to the police, The police station claimed that the robbery had actually occurred in the jurisdiction of another police station.
