RAWALPINDI: Six soldiers embraced martyrdom while combating terrorists in a fierce firefight within South Waziristan’s Asman Manza area in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province, as reported by the military’s media division on Tuesday.
As indicated by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ position, resulting in the demise of four militants and the injury of two others.
The ISPR statement further communicated that efforts are underway to clear the area of any remaining terrorists.
“Our nation’s armed forces are resolute in eradicating the threat of terrorism, and the courageous sacrifices of our soldiers fortify this determination,” the statement emphasized.
Just the previous week, military personnel had neutralized two terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in KP’s Khyber district.
As per the ISPR, the security forces conducted the IBO upon receiving intelligence about the presence of terrorists in the Bara area of Khyber district on the nights of August 18-19.
Pakistan has witnessed a marked increase in terrorist activities, including multiple suicide bombings and firearm assaults primarily targeting police and law enforcement agencies in the northwestern provinces. These incidents have led to numerous casualties and substantial property damage since the return of Taliban leadership in neighboring Afghanistan.
