During the discussions with the coalition leaders, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif revealed plans to initiate consultations for the appointment of a caretaker Prime Minister, commencing tomorrow. The Prime Minister expressed optimism that the consultation process would be concluded within the next 2 to 3 days.

Notably, the current term of the National Assembly is set to expire on August 12 at 12 o’clock. Recently, Federal Minister for Water Resources, Khurshid Shah, also affirmed the intention to present the summary of dissolution for both the National and Provincial Assemblies to the President on August 9.

In response, the Election Commission has outlined a tentative schedule, stating that if the assembly is dissolved by August 12, the election will be conducted before October 11. The timeline emphasizes the need for timely and efficient procedures in order to ensure a smooth transition and a fair electoral process.
