ISLAMABAD: The Federal Directorate of Education Islamabad and EST teachers managed by Federal Government Educational Institutions Canton Garrison Directorate Rawalpindi have demanded the Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to upgrade from grade 14 to 16.

Notable teachers including Ali Murad, Kashif Mehmood, Anwar Ahmed, Shazia Khan, Izhar Malik, Tawheed Ahsan, Samaviya Noor, Malik Imran, Qadir Shah, and others, have joined forces to advocate for this demand. Emphasizing that they are part of the dispensation given by the Prime Minister to employees of grades one to 15, the EST teachers argue that they should also be granted grade 16, especially considering the absence of a grade 15 in the teaching cadre.

Furthermore, the aggrieved EST teachers highlighted the stagnation they have faced in their career growth, pointing out that they have not received promotions since 2007. Meanwhile, the educational institutions have brought in hundreds of new teachers, adding to their frustration.

The matter has garnered attention and is likely to intensify as teachers unite to seek fair recognition and career advancement within the educational system.
