ISLAMABAD: Islamabad and several cities in northern Pakistan were rocked by a powerful earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale earlier today, according to official reports from the earthquake center. The tremors were felt strongly across the region, causing panic and widespread damage.
Earthquake tremors were also felt in Peshawar, Muzaffarabad, Swat, Swabi, Malakand, Abbottabad, Lower Dir, Diamar, Rawalpindi, Lahore and Murree.
The earthquake struck at approximately around 10:50 AM , sending shockwaves through the capital city and its surrounding areas. Reports indicate that buildings shook violently, causing cracks to appear in walls and structures. Residents rushed out onto the streets in fear, seeking safety from the powerful tremors.
Emergency services and rescue teams were alerted to assist those in need. Hospitals have been placed on high alert to handle potential casualties and injuries. The government has urged citizens to remain calm and cooperate with the authorities during the ongoing rescue operations.
