ISLAMABAD: The federal government is set to distribute 100,000 laptops to students across Pakistan under the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme 2025, as part of efforts to promote digital education and empower youth.
A high-level meeting of the scheme’s third special committee was held on Tuesday, chaired by Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui. Prime Minister Youth Programme Chairman Rana Mashhood and Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar also attended.
During the meeting, officials reviewed the regional distribution of applications and quota allocations. It was decided that a nationwide media awareness campaign will be launched to inform students about the scheme and its benefits. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will lead the campaign.
Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui announced that the central launch ceremony will be held on 25 July, 2025 at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad. Rana Mashhood added that several regional events will follow, with dates to be announced soon.

“This scheme reflects the vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to empower the youth,” said Siddiqui. “Access to technology is key to Pakistan’s development.” Rana Mashhood echoed the message, saying youth empowerment is essential for building a stronger and brighter future.
The scheme aims to help students improve their academic performance and research capabilities by providing them with modern tools and access to smart learning.
