ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, expressed his disappointment over the lack of implementation of the federal cabinet’s decisions. He directed the relevant ministries to provide a response on the matter.
Sources revealed that on October 18, the Prime Minister had requested a list of officers involved in corruption in distribution companies and a plan to stop electricity theft, which costs Rs 100 billion annually.
The Prime Minister had given a deadline of two weeks to provide the requested information, but the Power Division did not take any action despite six months passing.
The decision of the federal cabinet was allegedly suppressed in the files, and the Prime Minister warned of strict action against officers obstructing cabinet decisions.
Additionally, on March 17, the Prime Minister had asked for a report on delayed cheapest wind power plants and directed the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to provide funds for an energy-saving campaign.
However, despite a month and a half passing, the Power Division has yet to take any action on this matter. The Prime Minister had also asked for a plan to run the electricity distribution companies under a public-private partnership.
