ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Pakistan Tobacco Company (PTC) Limited have jointly introduced the ‘Throw and Grow’ initiative to enhance greenery in Islamabad’s renowned Margalla Hills.
This campaign aims to engage hikers and visitors in contributing to the region’s ecological growth, said a news release.
At the entrance points of Trail 3 and Trail 5, stalls offering seedballs made from native species like Sukhchain, Pine, and others have been set up, where staff will guide participants on how to disperse the seedballs as they hike, taking advantage of the favorable Monsoon season for rapid germination.
The PTC has a strong history of community activities and runs six nurseries across Pakistan, with two located in Islamabad.
Since 1981, it has planted and given away over 150 million young trees through its tree-planting program. This year, PTC plans to donate and plant over 2.5 million more trees across Pakistan to support this effort.
The PTC continues to encourage people from all parts of society to join the ‘Throw and Grow’ movement and help with the Margalla Hills’ beauty and variety of life.
