RAWALPINDI: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed admiration for the military’s contribution to Pakistan’s “peaceful ascent,” affirming the nation’s inevitable progress.
The premier’s remarks were made during a visit to the General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi, where he and his newly-appointed cabinet members met with top military officials, including Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), discussions during the visit centered on national security, regional stability, and military readiness. The premier and his cabinet were briefed on the prevailing security environment, threats faced by the nation, and ongoing counterterrorism efforts.
Shehbaz and his cabinet colleagues lauded the professionalism, preparedness, and sacrifices of the Pakistan Army in combating terrorism, recognizing the military’s role in safeguarding the country’s territorial integrity and promoting peace.
Assuring full support, Prime Minister Shehbaz pledged to provide necessary resources for the armed forces’ operational readiness. He emphasized Pakistan’s inevitable rise and underscored the crucial role of the military in ensuring its peaceful ascent.
In response, the COAS expressed gratitude for the premier’s visit and reiterated the army’s commitment to meeting the nation’s expectations, supporting the government in addressing security challenges.
The visit concluded with both civilian and military leaders reaffirming their dedication to national interests and collaborative efforts toward a prosperous and secure Pakistan.
Before the meeting, the army chief received the prime minister, who also received a guard of honor. Paying homage to the martyrs, PM Shehbaz laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada.
