ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has announced its decision on Wednesday to recall its ambassador from Iran, concurrently imposing a temporary ban on the Iranian ambassador, currently situated in Iran, from entering Pakistan.

Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, the spokesperson for Pakistan’s Foreign Office, conveyed during a press conference in Islamabad that Iran’s recent unprovoked violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty, deemed to be in violation of international law and the principles outlined in the United Nations Charter, is both illegal and unjustifiable.

Pakistan, asserting its right to respond, holds Iran responsible for the repercussions of this unlawful action.

Baloch communicated this stance to the Iranian government, underscoring Pakistan’s choice to recall its ambassador and temporarily bar the return of the Iranian ambassador currently in Iran. Furthermore, all high-level diplomatic visits between Pakistan and Iran, whether ongoing or scheduled in the near future, have been suspended.

The preceding night, Pakistan’s Foreign Office confirmed an incident where Iran breached its airspace, resulting in the tragic death of two children and injuries to three others. The Foreign Office strongly condemned Iran’s unwarranted violation, deeming it unacceptable and warning of potential serious consequences.

According to Iran’s official media, Iran targeted two bases of the Baloch militant group Jaish-ul-Adl in Pakistan with missiles. Reuters reported that Jaish-ul-Adl, a group banned by the United States, had increased attacks on security forces in Iranian regions bordering Pakistan.

Jaish-ul-Adl, in a subsequent statement, asserted that Iran’s Revolutionary Guards had targeted residences of their “Mujahideen,” where families, including children and women, resided.

The organization reported the destruction of two houses, leading to casualties among resident families, including two small children.

The statement characterized the attack as criminal, resulting in the martyrdom of two children and causing serious injuries to two women and a young girl.
