Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani affirmed Pakistan’s readiness to airlift injured Palestinians for medical treatment, a message conveyed to Jordan and Egypt.

He disclosed this during his Senate appearance in response to a query about Pakistan’s efforts concerning Gaza’s situation and the ongoing atrocities against its people.

These remarks coincided with the initiation of a truce between Israel and Hamas, ending over a month of Gaza bombings that tragically claimed the lives of more than 14,000 individuals, including women and children.

The 48-day conflict, which commenced with Hamas militants breaching the border on October 7, led to Israel’s extensive invasion of Gaza, resulting in casualties and hostage situations.

Amid this, Foreign Minister Jilani stated Pakistan’s communication with Jordan and Egypt, offering medical assistance to injured Palestinians within Pakistan. He acknowledged encountering obstacles in the process, notably the need for Israel’s approval and scrutiny of injured individuals to ensure they are not affiliated with Hamas.

Additionally, Pakistan expressed intentions to establish a hospital in Gaza, although the prevailing circumstances in the region pose challenges for such initiatives. Jilani cited Indonesia’s prior effort to establish a hospital, which met destruction, highlighting the difficulties faced in aiding Gaza.

Despite these challenges, the minister assured the Senate of Pakistan’s continued efforts in navigating these complexities to extend support to the people affected in Gaza.
