ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, heading the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNC), greenlit projects with a combined value exceeding 110 billion rupees. The significant decision came during a recent meeting of the ECNC held in Islamabad.

Among the approved ventures, a major focus was placed on enhancing infrastructure in Karachi, with specific attention to areas such as Korangi and Malir. The allocated budget for these projects is set at 18 billion 80 crore rupees.

Another crucial initiative involves the conversion of agricultural tube wells to solar power in Karachi, encompassing an estimated expenditure of 18 billion 80 crore rupees. Remarkably, the World Bank has pledged to provide a loan amounting to 16 billion 70 crore rupees to support this vital endeavor.

The scope of the meeting extended beyond Karachi, as it also saw the green signal for the nationwide implementation of agricultural tube well-to-solar power conversion, including all four provinces and Islamabad. Furthermore, the outsourcing of the Islamabad International Airport was given the go-ahead.

Notably, the meeting addressed concerns in the region of Gilgit-Baltistan, approving projects for environment and rural development.

These substantial decisions are expected to pave the way for significant progress and development across various sectors in Pakistan.
