Islamabad, Rawalpindi police announce Eid-ul-Adha 2025 security plans

ISLAMABAD/RAWALPINDI: Islamabad Police have released their security plan for Eid-ul-Adha. According to the police spokesperson, over 3,000 officers and staff will be on duty during the festival.

According to the reports, DIG Islamabad Jawad Tariq said that security will be tight at all mosques, including Faisal Mosque, and Eidgah grounds. Special teams will be deployed to manage smooth traffic flow, and Dolphin Force personnel will patrol different areas.

He added that CTD quick response teams will remain alert to handle any emergency. Police will also be present at parks and other public places, and city security will be monitored through Safe City cameras.

DIG Jawad Tariq asked citizens to cooperate with police during checks. He said Islamabad Police is working hard to protect people’s lives and property.

Meanwhile, Rawalpindi Police have also issued their Eid security plan. More than 2,700 police officers will perform duty on Eid. Security will be provided at 604 mosques, 72 Imambargahs, and 62 open areas.

To keep traffic moving smoothly, over 650 traffic police officers will be on duty. To stop dangerous one-wheeling, 30 special checkpoints have been set up across the city with more than 250 officers.

Over 230 police officers will be deployed at public places and parks, and more than 270 officers will guard cemeteries. On the night of the moon sighting (Chand Raat), mobile police units will patrol with 30 special checkpoints active.

Senior officers will personally supervise the security arrangements. Along with district police, Elite Force, Ladies Police, Dolphin Force, and Mohafiz Squad will also be on duty. Police mobile units and motorcycle squads will patrol their respective areas on Chand Raat and Eid days.

SSP Operations Kashif Zulfiqar said all resources will be used to ensure foolproof security during Eid. CPO Syed Khalid Hamdani said protecting citizens’ lives and property is the top priority, and all efforts are being made to ensure their safety.

Government Declares Eid Holidays;

The federal government has announced holidays from June 6 to June 9 for Eid-ul-Adha. The official notification has been issued.

According to the notification, the holidays will start on Friday, June 6, and continue until Monday, June 9. The Cabinet Division issued the notification after approval from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

It is noted that the moon for Zul-Hijjah 1446 Hijri was sighted on May 28. The first day of Zul-Hijjah was May 29, so Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated on Saturday, June 7, in Pakistan.
