Karachi: The annual examinations for Class 9 and Class 10 under the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) have officially begun today.
The board has started delivering exam materials to designated hub centers. From there, center control officers will transport the papers to the respective exam centers and remain present during the exams to oversee the process.
A total of 375,000 students are appearing in the exams. To accommodate them, 499 exam centers have been set up across 18 towns of the city — 256 centers for boys and 243 for girls.
Students have been strictly warned not to bring mobile phones to the exam halls. Any violation will result in confiscation of the phone.
To ensure smooth conduct, the board has requested the imposition of Section 144 around exam centers to prevent unauthorized entry. Photocopy shops near centers have also been asked to remain closed during exam hours.
The board has formed special monitoring teams to prevent cheating and set up a reporting cell to receive daily updates from the field staff.
To avoid power outages during exams, BSEK has formally requested KE (K-Electric) to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply.

Online admit cards and the list of exam centers have already been issued by the board. Daily visits by vigilance teams will also take place to monitor the situation.
Some schools requested changes in exam centers, which have been approved. These schools have been informed, and the updated list is available on the official board website.
In a student-friendly move, the board has allowed candidates who are unable to reach their centers on time to still appear in the exam if they arrive late.
According to today’s schedule, the morning shift will have the Class 10 Computer Studies paper, while the General Science exam will be held in the afternoon. Both papers will have a duration of three hours.
