ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Housing and Works has sent a summary to the federal cabinet to increase the rental ceiling for federal government employees.
According to a private TV channel report, the proposed rental ceiling increase ranges from 60% to 125%. The increase is suggested for federal employees in six major cities across the country.
Report Say, the cities proposed for the rental ceiling hike are Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, and Quetta.
The proposal suggests the following increases:
- For employees in grades 1 to 6, a 125% increase.
- For grades 7 to 10, a 100% increase.
- For grades 11 to 22, a 60% increase.

For Islamabad, the rental ceiling for employees in grade 1 to 2 would rise from 7,029 to 15,815 rupees. For grades 3 to 6, it would increase from 10,980 rupees to 24,705 rupees. For grades 7 to 10, it would rise from 16,403 rupees to 32,806 rupees. For grades 11 to 13, it would go up from 27,744 rupees to 35,590 rupees.
Similarly, the rental ceiling for employees in grades 14 to 16 would increase from 31,085 rupees to 49,736 rupees. For grades 17 to 18, it would rise from 41,147 rupees to 65,835 rupees. For grade 19, it would increase from 54,704 rupees to 87,526 rupees. For grade 20, the rental ceiling would go up from 68,700 rupees to 109,920 rupees.
Finally, the proposal recommends raising the rental ceiling for grade 21 employees from 82,261 rupees to 131,618 rupees and for grade 22 employees from 98,444 rupees to 157,510 rupees.
