Sindh govt abolishes job quota for children of deceased employees

ISLAMABAD: The Sindh government has abolished the job quota for the children of deceased employees.

On the orders of the Supreme Court, the Sindh Cabinet has approved the abolition of the quota for deceased employees. A notification has also been issued to abolish the quota for deceased individuals.

According to the notification, no further recruitments will be made under the death quota in Sindh.

Earlier this year, the Punjab government also made a similar decision. Punjab government abolished Rule 17A related to government employment, which provided a quota for the children of government employees who died in the line of duty.

A son, daughter, or widow was given a government job if employee died during government service. In this regard, the Punjab government issued a formal notification in July.

In other news, the New Gwadar International Airport (NGIA), eagerly awaited, is scheduled for inauguration on December 30, 2024, as directed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, according to a report by a private TV channel.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), the national carrier, will operate the airport’s inaugural commercial flight, marking a key milestone in regional connectivity.

Final preparations are in progress, with a recent five-hour meeting between PIA and the Airports Authority finalizing essential operational matters.
