Govt announces holiday for all schools in Rawalpindi, Islamabad on Nov 27

ISLAMABAD: In view of the situation in the twin cities, the administration has decided to keep all educational institutions in Rawalpindi and Islamabad closed on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.

Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner Hassan Waqar Cheema has issued a holiday notification for educational institutions, stating that all educational institutions in the city will remain closed on Wednesday.

The notification states that, in view of the current law and order situation and the recommendations of the District Intelligence Committee, all government and private educational institutions within the limits of Rawalpindi will observe a holiday on November 27.

According to a media report, in view of the ongoing situation in the federal capital, all educational institutions will remain closed on Wednesday, November 27. This decision applies to all educational institutions in Islamabad.

It is important to note that, due to the PTI protests in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, many roads are blocked, strict security measures have been taken, and the authorities had earlier decided to shut all schools on November 25 and 26.

Meanwhile, the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi had postponed the Intermediate practical examinations scheduled for the 25th after the government declared a public holiday in the twin cities.

Controller of Examinations Tanveer Asghar Awan stated that the new date for the practical examinations would be announced later.

However, he clarified that the practical examinations in all districts except Rawalpindi would be held as per the date sheet. The practical examinations of Intermediate Physics and Health and Physical Education were scheduled to be held today.

On the other hand, Punjab Secretary of Schools, Khalid Nazir Watto, announced that winter holidays will begin on December 20, 2024, in the province.

As per reports, the Secretary of Schools also mentioned in a statement that the winter holidays would continue until January 10, 2025. A total of 21 days have been designated for the winter vacation in Punjab.
