ISLAMABAD: Five First Information Reports (FIRs) have been filed against Bushra Bibi, the wife of former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, over a controversial video statement about Saudi Arabia.

According to a media report, the FIRs registered at police stations in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Multan, Layyah, and Gujranwala under the Telegraph Act of 1885 allege that the former first lady attempted to mislead the public through her video.

An FIR was lodged at the Jamal Khan Police Station in Dera Ghazi Khan on the complaint of a man named Ghulam Yaseen.

The FIR stated that Bushra Bibi’s statement appeared to be a conspiracy aimed at damaging relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

Media report said, the complainant argued that her video statement was an affront to the sentiments of the Pakistani people and part of a deliberate plot, urging legal action against her.

Additionally, another case has been registered against Bushra Bibi in Rajanpur under the same Telegraph Act of 1885, following a complaint filed by a person named Hakim at the Muhammad Pur Gamwala Police Station.

The third case was lodged at Layyah’s City Police Station under the Telegraph Act 1985. Citizen Ashfaq Sohail submitted the FIR claiming Bushra’s statement was an attempt to dent Pakistan-Saudi relations.

The fourth FIR was landed at Multan’s Qutabpur Police Station under the same act. The text of the FIR stated that Bushra Bibi tried to damage the Pakistan’s policy towards Saudi Arabia and mislead the Pakistani public.

A citizen also submitted an application against Bushra Bibi in Gujranwala’s Saddar Police Station on Saturday for registering case under Telegraph Act and other sections.

The applicant said Bushra’s statement was “a well-thought-out conspiracy” which has disappointed the public. He called for strict action against Bushra Bib, the text of the FIR said.

In a video message shared on PTI’s official X handle, Bushra had alleged that Saudi Arabia had a role in the removal of the PTI government.

She had claimed that during Imran Khan’s visit to Medina, Saudi officials expressed dissatisfaction, allegedly asking the then army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa why Imran had accompanied him.

Bushra further claimed that a hate campaign was subsequently launched against her and her husband, with the latter being labeled as a Jewish agent.
