ISLAMABAD: Prominent Islamic scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel, commenting on the fatwa of the Islamic Ideology Council, says that if a private network (VPN) is forbidden (Haram), then the use of mobile phones is also forbidden.

Speaking to a private channel, renowned Islamic preacher Maulana Tariq Jameel said regarding the fatwa of the Islamic Ideology Council: “I do not know which Shariat Court has given the fatwa.”

Maulana Tariq Jameel stated that, in his opinion, the fatwa declaring VPN as haram is incorrect. “I believe it reflects narrow-mindedness.”

Maulana Tariq Jameel further explained that if VPN is forbidden, then mobile phones should also be forbidden because there are many things to watch on them without using a VPN.

It should be noted that the Islamic Ideology Council had declared the use of Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) as haram.

On the other hand, the PTA has facilitated the registration of VPNs by blocking a large number of unregistered VPNs.

What is a VPN?

VPN stands for Virtual Private Network and refers to a network that allows users to browse anonymously.

In countries where internet users are unable to access certain social media sites, VPNs help users change their location and access these platforms.
