ISLAMABAD: The Federal Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, approved the draft of the 26th Constitutional Amendment Bill in an important meeting held on Sunday.
During the meeting, the Minister for Law and Justice gave a detailed explanation of the amendment. The draft, supported by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and other coalition partners, was approved. The Prime Minister thanked the leaders of the allied parties for their support.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the nation on the cabinet’s approval, saying, “The cabinet has made a good decision for the country’s progress, prosperity, and improvement.”
“The cabinet made this decision for the benefit of the country while keeping their oath to serve the nation ” a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s office reads. The Prime Minister added that, with God’s blessing, the country has achieved a major step toward constitutional stability and rule of law after stabilizing the economy. He promised to continue working for the country’s growth and stability.
After the meeting, Federal Minister Musadik Malik confirmed that the government had approved the draft, which was created together by the PPP, the government, and allied parties.
It is also worth noting that before the cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had a detailed discussion with President Asif Ali Zardari regarding the constitutional amendment, where the President was briefed and taken into confidence.
