LAHORE: The Punjab government introduced the ‘Himmat Card’ to aid persons with disabilities (PWDs) using ATM cards.
In this regard, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Department of Social Welfare and the Bank of Punjab. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif attended the signing ceremony.
According to the report, the Bank of Punjab will issue ATM cards to 65,000 special individuals. Through the Himmat Card, each special person across Punjab will receive Rs10,500 quarterly.
In the first phase, 40,000 individuals will receive the Himmat Cards, while in the second phase, an additional 25,000 cards will be issued. Payments through the Himmat Card will begin by September 15th.
Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz stated that it is the state’s responsibility to care for deserving special individuals and the poor strata of society.

What Is the Punjab’s Himmat Card?
The Himmat Card is a package of various services provided by the government to PWDs.
Currently, the government has announced a quarterly stipend of Rs. 7,500 for needy PWDs. In the future, any additional services announced by the government for PWDs will be provided through the Himmat Card.
What Is the Eligibility Criteria for the Himmat Card?
- PWD should be certified by Social Welfare Punjab.
- PWD should not be employed in a government or private office.
- PWD should be NOT FIT TO WORK.
- PMT score issued by BISP should not exceed 37.
- PWD should not have recently taken any grant from Bait-ul-Maal, Zakat Fund, PSPA, BISP, etc.
- PWD’s basic data should be updated in the DPMIS (including CNIC, address, mobile number, education, experience, etc.).
