PESHAWAR: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman and former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said that his party would attend the government-sponsored all-parties conference (APC), where all political parties will give their opinions on the newly-launched Operation Azm-e-Istehkam.
Bilawal Bhutto blamed the former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led government for making grave mistakes in the past, which led to the resurgence of terrorism in the country.
“Terrorism is rising in the KP and Balochistan provinces once again,” he said during a press conference in Peshawar .
The PPP Chairman added that the armed forces had successfully defeated the terrorists and dismantled their networks across the country until the PTI government made some “grave mistakes.”
He slammed the ex-PM Imran Khan-led governments in the Centre and the KP, without naming him, for making serious mistakes that revived terrorist organizations after the security forces had dismantled militant networks.
Pointing out the mistakes during the PTI rule, the PPP stalwart said that the KP government had become a facilitator of terrorists instead of eliminating them for the past 15 years.
“If its ministers, officials, former chief minister, and ex-speaker are admitting that they paid the terrorist outfits, and if KP’s resources are used to fund them, then how can we imagine fighting them?” Bilawal added.
He urged the Khyber Pukhtunkhwa government to play its role in addressing the terrorism issue.
Bilawal, the former foreign minister, expressed his thoughts, saying: “PM Shehbaz Sharif made a good decision to organize an APC, providing everyone, including PPP and other political parties, an opportunity to present their stances.”
It is noteworthy that the federal government decided to organize an APC “to gain political parties’ confidence in the newly launched Operation Azm-e-Istehkam”—a reinvigorated and re-energized national counter-terrorism drive aimed at rooting out the menace of terrorism from the country.
However, the government has yet to announce a date for the upcoming event.
