Bilawal Bhutto Departs for Dubai Following Zardari’s ‘Inexperienced’ Remarks
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

ISLAMABAD: PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari departed for Dubai shortly after his father and PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari referred to him as an “inexperienced” politician.

However, the PPP dismissed speculations of any discord between the party’s senior members and the father-son duo on Friday.

This development followed Zardari’s candid remarks in a televised program, labeling Bilawal as “inexperienced,” “not fully seasoned” in politics, and requiring time to gain expertise. This fueled rumors of potential disagreements between them, especially as Bilawal had advocated for veteran politicians to step aside, allowing the new generation to assume leadership roles.

In an announcement on a social media platform, PPP Central Secretary Information Faisal Karim Kundi clarified that the PPP chairman’s trip to Dubai, a city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), was pre-planned.

“Chairman PPP @BBhuttoZardari departed for Dubai as per his itinerary after visiting KP,” Kundi stated, countering media reports suggesting an abrupt departure from the country.

He further asserted, “Speculations about differences between Chairman PPP & President @AAliZardari are unfounded.”

Murad Ali Shah, a former Sindh chief minister and prominent PPP figure, echoed this sentiment, affirming that the visit was part of routine affairs while speaking to journalists.

PPP Information Secretary Shazia Atta Marri informed Private TV channel that Bilawal’s trip to Dubai was for private reasons, emphasizing its regularity. “There’s no specific motive behind this visit.”

Marri added that Bilawal had planned to travel to Dubai following his Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) election tour.

“Bilawal is scheduled to return to Pakistan on November 30 and participate in the party’s Foundation Day event,” she clarified.

PPP Senator Sherry Rehman questioned the media frenzy surrounding Bilawal’s visit, highlighting that it occurred precisely according to the predetermined schedule.

Don’t know why the panicked reporting on some channels : Chairman @BBhuttoZardari left for Dubai yesterday late afternoon exactly as scheduled.

Amidst the impending elections, a discrepancy arises in the viewpoints of the top leaders: Bilawal apprehends potential interference in the upcoming general elections, whereas Zardari asserts confidence in fair and transparent polls.

Bilawal has been actively campaigning across the nation, presenting his party as the remedy for Pakistan’s challenges, while urging older politicians to yield space for the new generation to spearhead the elections scheduled for February 8 next year.
