ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Maryam Aurangzeb, has introduced an exclusive online health insurance form tailored specifically for journalists and media workers.

Prime Minister Allocates One Billion Rupees for Journalists’ Health Insurance

During a media interaction, Maryam Aurangzeb made a significant announcement, revealing that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has allocated a generous sum of one billion rupees to ensure comprehensive health insurance coverage for journalists. The registration process for this online health insurance has already been set in motion.

The Information Minister emphasized the importance of transparency and convenience in the registration process for journalists’ health insurance. The entire procedure will be conducted digitally, offering a user-friendly experience. The health insurance form has been thoughtfully streamlined, making it easy for journalists to provide necessary information related to their health problems. This effort aims to ensure that all journalists can access essential health facilities through the insurance scheme.

Separate Schemes: Prime Minister Health Card vs. Journalists’ Health Insurance

Maryam Aurangzeb clarified that the Prime Minister Health Card scheme and the newly introduced health insurance scheme for journalists are distinct initiatives. Journalists who are already benefiting from the Prime Minister Health Card scheme will not be eligible to apply for the journalists’ health insurance scheme.

Pakistan’s Freedom of Expression Rating Improved by Seven Levels

The Minister proudly shared a notable achievement for Pakistan, stating that the rating of freedom of expression in the country has substantially improved by seven levels. Additionally, she mentioned that the PEMRA Amendment Bill faced no opposition during its consideration.

PEMRA Amendments Address Health Insurance and Salaries

Recognizing the long-standing issues concerning health insurance and salaries for journalists, Maryam Aurangzeb emphasized the importance of the PEMRA amendments. These amendments incorporate provisions for minimum wages and job security, aiming to enhance the welfare of journalists in the country.
