Pakistan to raise CSS exam age limit, permits more attempts from 2026

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan’s National Assembly decided to increase the maximum age for Central Superior Services (CSS) exam candidates from 30 to 35, starting in 2026, as per the private tv report.

As per the report, Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar, a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA, proposed suspending the rules to present the idea, and the Assembly approved it without objections.

The new decision also allows candidates to attempt the CSS exam up to five times, one more than the current limit of four.

Lawmakers encouraged the government to apply these changes quickly so candidates can prepare their applications in time.

The CSS exam is an academic pathway for young graduates and professionals aiming for top federal jobs in areas like administration, foreign affairs, customs, and other services.

Previously, only those aged 30 or younger could take the exam. The new 35-year age limit and extra attempt are meant to give more people the opportunity to prepare and participate.

CSS Exam Age Limit Increased to 35 and main points;

In a bid to widen access to top civil service posts, the National Assembly approved raising the CSS exam age limit from 30 to 35, a change that takes effect in 2026.

  • Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar, a PML-N MNA, proposed an important resolution.
  • Starting next year, candidates will be allowed up to five attempts.
  • Previously, those over 30 could not participate in the competition.

Earlier, the Federal Public Service Commission announced the results of the CSS Special Annual Exam 2023. A total of 15,242 candidates took the written test.

According to the FPSC, 519 candidates passed the written test. In the end, 141 candidates were declared successful in the CSS Special Examination 2023, including 65 male and 76 female candidates.

The success rate for the exam was 3.20 percent.

The successful candidates include Mir Musawar Ali, Zoha Tiwana, Kinza Ahmed Mughal, Muhammad Zeeshan, Arsalan Khan, Sania, Inzamam Qasim, Murad Khalid, Muhammad Owais Khan, Zaheer Ahmed, Kainat Shahzadi, Aqib Shaukat, Asma Nisar, Zarlashta Fatima, Shah Muhammad, Maria Zeb Awan, Qamar Abbas, Hafsa Waqar, Kashif Ali, Zohaib Ahmed, and others.
