India Defeats Pakistan by Seven Wickets in World Cup 2023

ISLAMABAD: The ICC World Cup 2023 witnessed a highly anticipated clash, and in the most significant encounter of the tournament, India secured a convincing 7-wicket victory over Pakistan.

At the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad, India, after winning the toss, opted to field first. Pakistan’s batting order struggled mightily against the Indian bowlers, and the entire Pakistani team was bundled out for just 191 runs in 42.5 overs.

In response, India successfully chased down the target of 192 runs, losing only 3 wickets in 30.3 overs.

Pakistan faced its first setback when Abdullah Shafiq was dismissed for 20 runs by Muhammad Siraj. Imam ul Haq fell to Hardik Pandya after scoring 36 runs.

Babar Azam, who scored 50 runs, was bowled by Siraj when Pakistan’s score reached 155 in the 30th over.

Following Babar’s departure, Pakistani wickets tumbled quickly, with the remaining batsmen contributing just 36 runs. Saud Shakeel managed a mere 6 runs, while Kuldeep bowled out Iftikhar Ahmed after he scored 4 runs.

At a total of 168, Mohammad Rizwan was clean bowled by Jasprit Bumrah, having made 49 runs off 69 balls. Shadab Khan departed after scoring just 2 runs with the total at 171, while Mohammad Nawaz contributed only 4 runs. Hasan Ali was dismissed for 12 runs, followed by Haris, who was out for 2 runs.

For India, Jasprit Bumrah, Muhammad Siraj, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja each claimed 2 wickets.

India achieved the 192-run target, losing just 3 wickets in 30.3 overs.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma played a brilliant innings of 86 runs off 63 balls, comprising 6 sixes and 6 fours. Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten with 53 runs, while KL Rahul added 19 runs.

Shreyas Iyer’s innings featured 2 sixes and 3 fours. Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli contributed 16 runs each.

For Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi took 2 wickets, and Hasan Ali secured one wicket.

Jasprit Bumrah of India was named the Player of the Match for his exceptional performance, claiming 2 wickets for just 19 runs in 7 overs.
