SWABI: In a terrorist attack that took place in Swabi district’s Yar Hussain area on Friday, Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police (ASI) Sahir Khan was martyred, and two other police personnel were injured.
According to reports, the attack occurred when Sahir Khan and his colleagues were on duty in their vehicle at the Yar Hussain Bazaar during the holy month of Ramazan, protecting the lives and property of people in the busy market before the Iftar meal. The two injured police constables were identified as Ijaz and Gul Naseeb, both belonging to Battagram area.
The incident has been viewed as an attempt to disrupt public order. Following the attack, a heavy contingent of police officials cordoned off the area, and a search operation was initiated as per the orders of the district police officer (DPO) in Swabi. The banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
